Lanarkshire Guitar and
   Mandolin Association

Tuition

Ongoing education is one of the most important parts of the work of the LGMA. This education covers all levels, all ages and all abilities. Only with this approach can we ensure the long term success of the Association and the mandolin and guitar orchestras in general.

Apart from classes and workshops we encourage players to take part in many musical events, competitions and ensembles. Recently members have taken part in the following events:

  • Solo, duo and ensemble competitions at the BMG rally
  • Workshops of other organisations (ALP Scots Music Group, Edinburgh, Glasgow Fiddle Workshop)
  • Mandolin and Guitar Youth Orchestra, Mango
  • European Guitar and Mandolin Youth Orchestra, EGMYO
  • Graded Exams
  • Standard Grade and Higher Exams (SQA)
Here are some examples of our approach:
