The Guitar: Its Past and Present
Peter Argondizza performs twentieth century guitar masterpieces from Spain, Argentina and the United States:
Manuel Defalla - Homenaje pour "Le tombeau de Claude Debussy", G56
Alberto Ginastera - Guitar Sonata, Op 47
Steve Reich - Electric Counterpoint for live guitar and tape
These works are masterpieces of the Twentieth Century guitar repertoire each representing the sole contribution
by each composer to the guitar's repertoire. Though varied in musical language - late Romaticism, atonality and
minimalism - each displays the unique, innovative and idiomatic "guitar" culture of each composer - Flamenco
(Defalla), Argentinian Pampas (Ginastera) and American Jazz and Rock (Reich).

Tim O'Brien and Kris Drever
Tim O'Brien is one of the spearheads of contemporary bluegrass and has served as a bridge between the traditional sounds
of the hill country and the modern styles of bluegrass. Hehas continued to expand the music's borders as a soloist, a duo partner
with his sister Mollie, and with his band, the O'Boys. His songs have additionally been recorded by Kathy Mattea, the Seldom
Scene, New Grass Revival, and the Johnson Mountain Boys.
Kris Drever is fast building his name both as a guitarist of exceptionally eclectic talent, and a singularly eloquent
interpreter of traditional and contemporary songs and is a winner the Horizon prize for best newcomer at the Radio 2 Folk Awards.
