Youth Music Initiative

This programme is funded by South Lanarkshire Council and the Scottish Arts Council, and is run by the LGMA.
The work has been very successful so far and all the targets have been exceeded.

In March 2007, the Scottish Arts Council approved a grant application for £4500 to fund additional classes under the Youth Music Initiative.
We have also received £2000 joint funding from the Scottish Community Council.
The grant includes funding for:

• instruments,
• Continuous Personal Development,
• administration,
• a youth residential weekend and
• general overheads of running the YMI.

This is wonderful news for us, as it provides financial security until 2009 for the following five classes:

• Young People (Beginners) Mandolin - two classes in East Kilbride
• Young People Classical Guitar - one class in East Kilbride
• Young People Rock & Pop Guitar - two classes in Hamilton
