Charity Practice-a-thon
Young MANGO members took part in Raising £400 for the children's cancer charity CLIC Sargent in June 2007.
The LGMA encouraged members of MANGO Youth Orchestra and youth classes to take
part in this sponsored event, in the run up to the LGMA youth concert on June 17th 2007 in East Kilbride.
Participants practiced each day for two weeks and the money raised went to CLIC Sargent, the children's cancer charity.
CLIC Sargent is the UK's leading children's cancer charity. It provides the widest range of services and the
highest number of care professionals to look after children and young people with cancer and their families.
As advocates they give children, young people and their families a strong
national voice, helping them to be heard and understood. Through research they look at ways of improving
treatment and managing side-effects, to help patients and to improve quality of life for survivors.
This year the LGMA is very proud that some of our young people joined over 65,000 children nationally, making
music during Practice-a-thon. In its fourth year, CLIC Sargent is looking to raise £160,000 for children with
cancer.

75% of the money raised will help children with cancer and their families throughout
the UK. 25% can be kept by schools and musical groups taking part to support future music projects.
