Exciting changes to LGMA membership

We're making some changes to what it means to be a member of the LGMA. We're always looking at ways to give you as a member the best value possible, and to communicate with you in the most effective way.

e-newsletter
In May 2008 we will be launching our electronic newsletter. This will mean that members will receive all the technique articles, information on music history and CD and music reviews as well as event listings and LGMA news, that was previously in the hard copy version, but they will now receive it to their mail in-boxes much sooner than we could possibly prepare and send hard copy newsletters.

Up to date information, more regularly
What's more, we're planning on sending out the e-newsletter every two months. This means that the information those on the list will receive will be really up to date.

We will continue to send out updates and reminders about concerts and events to all on the mailing list (and via "your profile" you can choose which to receive), but as far as possible we will include this information in the newsletter, to avoid overloading you with emails. All the information you need will be in one place, six times a year.

A better deal for members
Managing the newsletter and email list this way leaves us time free to negotiate more member offers, and save LGMA funds so that we can continue to offer member discounts on our concerts and workshops.

Membership for 2008 includes an LGMA fridge magnet, so if you haven't yet renewed your membership for this year, get in touch and we'll send you a magnet with your new membership card.

Members only
The e-newsletter will be sent to all our mailing list contacts, but we're planning that only LGMA members will be able to access all of the articles. Technique articles, information on music history and music notation will be accessible for members only via a password. Non members will be able to read articles on forthcoming events, information updates and reviews of CDs and concerts. Your password will be sent to you along with your membership card.
The LGMA committee is very excited about the potential improvements "going electronic" will offer, and we hope you are too. Please let us know if there are any specific types of article you would like to see in the new e-newsletter, or about any types of membership benefits you would like us to offer you.

We regularly work to increase the number of discounts and special offers available to our members, and hope to add even more in 2008.

LGMA Membership

As a charity and a membership organisation, membership subscriptions are an important part of our fundraising income. Membership subscriptions help support our expanding number of activities and maintain our success, and membership allows you to access some great benefits:

  • your copy of our regular newsletter directly to your email inbox, including access to articles on guitar and mandolin technique, CD reviews, music history, and written music for you to play
  • discounts on LGMA events including concerts and residential weekend courses, and
  • discounts and special offers from a range of music shops and instrument makers:

You will be able to access all the discounts above and will receive an LGMA magnet free with your pack.

There are three types of membership: Adult at £10, Child £5 (under 16 years of age) and Family £15 (for up to two adults and any number of children in the same family). All memberships are for a period of one calendar year.

You can become a member by returning the application with a passport sized photograph (to be shown on your membership card) and the appropriate payment. An updated list of membership discounts and offers will be posted to you with your card.

LGMA Mailing List

If you're not a member, but would like to be added to our mailing list for information about our courses and forthcoming concerts and events, please sign up online or post your contact details on the mailing list form or simply email us. We will absolutely not pass your details to any other organisation.
