About the LGMA
The Association
The Association was formed in January 1999 to promote music played on mandolin and
guitar and to provide a forum for those people with an interest in this type of
music.
We encourage interest among children and adults in the mandolin and guitar and assist
in their musical and instrumental development.
The LGMA is the largest organisation of its kind in the United Kingdom with 100s of
children and adults now learning mandolin across Scotland.
Over the past years the Association has dramatically increased its activities, with
even performances abroad.
Tuition
The Association runs classes and workshops (see the Tuition pages) in
partnership with other organisations, and also independently.
As with many other instruments, graded exams are available for Mandolin. These are run by the
Victoria College of Music.
